After serving the citizens of the State of Texas as a felony prosecutor at the Hidalgo County Criminal District Attorney's Office, Derek felt that his passion was to represent individuals and families of those who have suffered catastrophic and life-changing injuries, along with those accused of criminal offenses and whose liberty and life were in jeopardy. 

Derek also represents Houston, Northwest Houston, Katy and surrounding areas, large and small business owners in various legal matters, such as in the collection of outstanding accounts, contract disputes, interference with business relations and contracts, and other related matters.
